With her girls out the door and off to school, Mary-Sue decided that now was as good a time as any to begin her new hobby.

Now that her girls were teenagers and spent most of their time at home holed up in their bedrooms, Mary-Sue had found herself with a lot more time on her hands. As a result, she’d decided to take up gardening and floristry.

She planted herself a handful of flower bushes to get herself started, and tried her hand at her first flower arrangement. It wasn’t spectacular, but it wasn’t awful either. Mary-Sue couldn’t wait to try more.

When Lilith arrived at school, her best friend Stephanie was waiting for her.

“Only you could live next door to the school and still be late.” Stephanie teased.

“Give me a break!” Lilith replied with a playful smirk.

After Lilith dragged herself out of bed, she encountered her twin sister in the hallway.

“Oh my god,” she said, with a judgemental tinge to her voice. “Are you still in your pyjamas?”

“Leave me alone Angela.” Lilith grumbled.

Lilith made her way downstairs, and fixed herself a bowl of the sugary cereal that her mother hated (no more nutritional value than cardboard, according to her).

Lilith sighed into her cereal. She was dreading the drudgery of another school year.

Summer was drawing to a close, and the school year was beginning again.

“Lilith!” her mother called. “Wake up! You’re going to be late for school!”

Lilith grumbled sleepily, and made herself get out of bed, ready for her first day back at school.
